    Emotional

Through emotions, we feel alive – and in striving for positive emotions, even happy. A product should be the same: emotional, so that we can truly feel our lives. My role as a designer is to consciously uncover that certain extra within a product – in pursuit of more positive emotions. Why? A purely functional product is, today, interchangeable and obsolete. An emotional product, by contrast, is made for generations. At its best, it first becomes an innovative reference for others and eventually a classic that shapes our time in a cultural sense.

    Innovative

Innovation is the positive opposite of repetition of outdated solutions. Every era has produced its own innovations, often reshaping the products of its time like an eruptive tidal wave. Examples in the field of lighting include the introduction of the light bulb, low-voltage systems, and LED technology. As a studio, we feel at home where new things emerge, where innovation unfolds its potential and is rethought in new contexts.

    Circular

We love design, products, and materials. Yet the truth is: our resources are finite. The most sustainable product is certainly the one that is never created in the first place. For all those for whom ‘no product’ is not an option, small but effective approaches such as the cradle-to-cradle approach are essential – keyword: circular economy. As a studio, we aim to design all our products in a way that allows for repair at any time and, eventually, for the most complete and material-pure separation and reuse of their individual components. This is how a circular economy is created, and how the raw materials for the products of tomorrow are preserved. With the same development effort, this results in better products in the broader sense.
