Q. is a floor and reading lamp. The users themselves generate the energy required.
The special feature of the lamp is that it can be operated independently of the power grid and does not require any plug. The energy required for this is generated by the users themselves.
In this way, an often-unconscious energy consumption is made conscious in a playful way.
The design is intended to stimulate discourse and show how consumer goods can be rethought for a climate-neutral future. Q. plays with the formal tension between premium aesthetics and sustainability in design.
Q. shows that this does not have to mean sacrifice, as the energy required can be generated in two climate-neutral ways: Firstly, by turning the hand wheel, and secondly, while cycling. The battery charging system can be connected to any standard bicycle dynamo. In this way, enough energy can be generated to provide the light needed for an entire evening of reading. Easy to implement for people with an urban lifestyle.
